2010 is a particularly significant year for the Gas Industry Safety Group (GISG), celebrating the 10th anniversary of its formation. Since 2000, this independent group of experts has commissioned numerous pieces of important safety research and been instrumental in establishing good working practices and a 'safety conscience' across the sector. GISG has also become recognised as a key influencing force at all levels, both within the sector and amongst legislation and policy decision makers.
GISG's decennary dinner and awards ceremony [black-tie] was held on 22 November 2010, at the Guildhall in London. It commenced with a champagne reception which was sponsored by Scotia.
The ‘A Decade Of Excellence’ awards have been set up by GISG to celebrate safety achievements in the industry.
Award categories focused on successful gas safety initiatives, partnerships, training and research; and the nominations ended on 5 October 2010.
Nominations were judged by a pre-eminent panel which included members of the All Party Parliamentary Gas Safety Group, GISG and other leading gas safety specialists (including HSE).
The panel had an overview of nominees’ work during the judging process and the short-list was announced at the end of October.
The awards culminated in GISG's gala dinner and presentation ceremony - and you can see pictures of the event here.
