Since its formation in 1905, the SBGI has been the only trade association covering the whole of the onshore gas industry. In recent years its scope has extended to other parts of the other energy and utilities sector. The SBGI has two organisational divisions - Utility Networks and the Heating and Hotwater Industry Council (HHIC). It also provides secretariat services to several other organisations within the energy and utilities sector. The Secretariat is located in Leamington Spa, where regular meetings are held for the different member groups within the SBGI.
